Just Fishing 11/14/09

Ricky caught this 20plus pound tuna and 2 nice almaco jacks. Lynn caught the scamp & the mingo's. A shark tried to steal the scamp on top from Lynn's hook, but she and Ricky snatched it right out of his mouth to bring it on board..the shark was so mad...thought he was jumping on board too!

Fishing Report 7/21/09

Beautiful weather and flat seas with just two of us aboard. The current was running a bit and jellies were everywhere, getting into our lines. Ricky caught a 21 lb snapper on one of the first drops at a spot he hasn't fished in a while. Ran over another nearby that should be very productive w/ snappers and triggers this time next year. We caught a box full of fish with a few snappers, some nice scamp, and our limit of 2 AJ's. The AJ bite was fierce, they were going after anything, we even changed bait to try to avoid catching anymore, but kept hooking 'em with herring, pin fish and rubies! We decided to move on to another spot. Sharks ran us off another, kept coming up w/ grouper and snapper heads!

Fishing Expedition

Fishing trip 7/11/09. We took a week off from fishing since we had fished 3 tournaments back to back. Ricky wanted to scout out some new spots this trip. We tried all new places and had a great day! Now we've got some great new hot spots! David caught a 40+lb AJ this trip. He had another hook that had rusted still in him. We kept two kings, and was able to safely catch and release another that was about the same size, 4 snappers, 4 AJ's, several scamp and white snapper. We also caught what we think is a toad fish, we'll have to wait for Brent(our resident fish biologist) to get home to tell us for sure. Pretty good for an expedition trip!

Bud Light King Mackerel Tournament June 27, 2009

Team Steel Hooked came away with two places in the Bud Light King Mack Tourney. Ricky caught the First Place Dolphin @ 12.15 lbs. and Brent was 3rd Place Junior Angler with a 19.19 lb King Mack.

Bill Hargreaves Fishing Rodeo June 18-21

Brent's King was 9 lbs, Lynn's King was 25 lbs, but neither placed in this tourney which only awarded First Place prizes. Ricky got First Place Scamp though at 4.6 lbs.

Outcast Family Fishing Rodeo June 5-7, 2009

Lynn got Second Place King Mack in the Open Division w/a 22.3 pounder.

In the Junior Division, Brent got First Place Blue Runner, 3.85 lbs and 2nd Place Grouper, 8.3 lbs. He also got 5 stitches in his foot trying to catch a crab to weigh in that weekend!

Queen of Kings Tourmanment May 29-30, 2009

An 88.66 lb Wahoo was a bonus caught by 4'11" Carolyn during the Queen Of Kings Tourney, unfortunately, no category for it!

We placed Third in Queen of Kings Tourney with a King that Lynn snagged that weighed in at 28.34lbs.

Gulf Breeze Optimist Fishing Rodeo May 16-17, 2009

Brent got First Place with his 6.4 lbs Trigger Fish. Ricky also got First Place Amberjack with 19.49 lbs, and Lynn got First Place Grouper with 8.39 lbs.
